Projects: Past and PresentCurrent Project:"Tony's Theme"Our current project is a smaller one that's taking surprisingly long to finish. It's a music video for a Pixies song called, "Tony's Theme," which is about a superhero named Tony. I decided to follow the lyrics this time, and so we're making it as if it were the opening theme to some crazy ass superhero show about Tony. So far I have a great deal of the easy bits filmed, but the more difficult ones are going to be hard come by, if at all. However, now that the weather's warm and people can actually stand to go outside, we ought to be able to get more of it done. Maybe, if other projects don't distract us. Also, two thirds of Infamous' core staff will be involved in another project, a Greek movie, very soon. Except it's gonna be under the Duke of Earl Studios banner, so mentioning it is essentially pointless. Oh well. Past Projects:King Lear's Arctic ExpeditionInfamous Studios' first and so far only completed project is a class project that we call "King Lear's Arctic Expedition." It was created for a Shakespeare class Jason and I (that being Mr. McGraw) were in. The two scenes are the first scene of act four of King Richard and the second scene of act 2 of King Lear, respectively. When Jason and I sat down to decide how we were going to do this, we decided that we'd have to do something symbolligacally with each, visually. For the first one, it's known as the "gage- throwing sequence," where a bunch of nobleman start challenging each other to trials by combat: duels, basically, and there are two ways to read it: as a royal comedy or as a dead serious showdown. Jason and I decided that we'd read it the former way, because that would be more fun, so we tried to place the whole thing it terms of a circus, with Bullingbrook as a ringmaster, Aumerle as a lion tamer, etc, etc. Also, Jason and I were the only ones to play the roles: so during the scene, we each had 3 or 4 roles apiece, distinguished by costumes. Also, the background changes back and forth from having snow to not having snow and back again. Essentially, none of it makes sense. The second scene is a dialogue between Edmond and Edgar, a good brother and an evil brother. The evil brother is setting up a plot to steal the inheritance of the good son, who happens to also be the legitimate heir (since the evil one was born out of wedlock). So we put the conversation over a billiards game, which can be just as much about guile and trickery as it is about skill. The game also serves as an allegory for the conversation, with the evil brother winning in the end as the good one rushes off into the jaws of betrayal. Also, you can thank Jack for that cool shadow thing at the end. Overall, I was very pleased with how that project came out. Also, I'm very pleased with the cover. It has Jack, wearing only his shorts, in the snow with the camera and with "King Lear's Arctic Expedition" written on his back. He actually came up with the idea, although he had actually planned to have me doing it. But I turned that around on him, didn't I? Oh yes indeed. Anyway, this is good work. Or so I say. Future Projects(You know, things we probably won't ever get to...)How Not to Make a MovieThe title pretty much says it all: Jason has this idea of making a movie by intentionally carrying out every bad moviemaking practice that you should ever make. Expect a film with absolutely no editing, camera error, and a bunch of ad-libbing. Of course, Jason isn't really planning to make this film all by himself. He is wating for Matt to make up a storyboard for him, and there is the issue of getting people together that actually want to do this film. Ah well... |
